Sensei

Sensei Daniel has been studying the martial arts for over 30 years. He loves to teach and created the Jujitsu Club at the University of Colorado in an effort to continue the tradition of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu and to help the system propagate. He is a 7th degree black belt (Shichidan) in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, a black belt (Shodan) in Kempo, a black belt (Shodan) in Enshin Karate, and he holds an instructor rating in Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. He has participated in numerous Jujitsu Freestyle, Kata, and Judo competitions and has earned many awards. He served as Executive Manager on the national CJA board from 1998 to 2004. In 1998, he completed a 2-year internship under Professor Gene Edwards, and fulfilled many requirements to obtain his Sensei certification. He continued as the head instructor under Professor Edwards for the Shin Mei Kan dojo in Kalispell, Montana until May 2000. During this time, he also completed the level 1 course to become a certified Asian Bodywork Therapist/CMT. Sensei Daniel joined his brother as co-instructor at the Ten Mei Kan dojo at the University of Montana in Missoula while attending classes and eventually took over classes when his brother left for another teaching position. Sensei Daniel started the Jujitsu Club at CU in 2006 with a group of interested students while completing his Master’s degree. After graduation, he started Mountain Martial Arts in Littleton and has been happily passing on the knowledge he has attained over the years.
